MISSING!!!

Opal Jo Jennings has been missing since Mar.26,1999 from her home in Saginaw, TX. She was abducted by a man, described below, late that afternoon. The police have very little to go on at this time, and request your help. Opal is six years old, weighs 60 pounds, is 4 ft. tall. She was last seen wearing a white T-shirt with flowers, purple shorts and Barbie sneakers. SAGINAW (AP) - The family of a 6-year-old girl pleaded Sunday for her safe return as authorities combed her neighborhood and posted fliers with her photo.

But officials reported no new leads into the disappearance of Opal Jo Jennings.

"I'm just about at the end of my rope," said Audrey Sanderford, Opal's grandmother and legal guardian. "All we can hope is somebody might have seen something."

Police said the kindergartner was snatched from in front of Sanderford's house Friday evening. Witnesses told investigators a white male 40 to 45 years old got out of his car, grabbed the brown-haired girl, punched her in the chest and threw her into his car as she screamed once.

Police have not yet released a composite sketch of the suspect. This is the latest description of the man who snatched Opal from a vacant lot adjacent to her grandparents' home Friday afternoon at 5:30:

  • white or Hispanic male
  • 40s or 50s
  • no facial hair
  • dark shoulder-length hair in ponytail
  • dark T-shirt
  • dark pants
  • dark tennis shoes
  • red baseball cap

Police provided this information about the suspect's car:

  • dark colored sedan
  • dark tinted windows
  • silver or chrome wheels
  • primer spot on hood
  • dirty and/or unkempt appearance
  • possibly a Chrysler vehicle
